Pushing Boundaries
by Peter-Paul
Life, nature’s most precious gift.
So lucid and logical, yet so complex.
The giving of life seems so natural and effective,
although not everybody is that lucky.
In some, rare cases, of twin-pregnancy, the blood supplies to the two fetuses become interconnected, resulting in blood imbalance.
By using a precise lasering technique, the specific interconnecting blood vessels are coagulated, creating a healthier balance in the blood circulation.
It’s in this field that a small group of fetal surgeons is trying to make a difference, by giving at least, one of the two siblings a significant chance of life.
During our month-long stay in the Hasbro Children’s Hospital in Providence we were among the luckiest to witness two Twin-to-Twin laser ablations. TTTS laser ablations are a very unique thing and we believe this is the first time that one is actually recorded as a time lapse. So without further ado, the whole thing in a bit more than a minute. Watch it in HD HERE.
Thank you dr. Luks, Monique and the children for this opportunity and mere hospitality.
Thank you Marc Durand for being an excellent narrator, although you didn’t make the final cut. I hope you’re doing great in Japan.
Thank you Patrick Watson and Secret City Records for trusting me with your music.
Thank you Tim Kemple for inspiration and help.
A final thank you goes out to you, for watching.
Big love.

I just stumbled across this, and I have tears in my eyes after watching it. I am a mom to 18 month old TTTS survivors, and I underwent laser surgery in January 2009. Thank you for providing this perspective of what it was like to be in the OR. I knew I had a crowd in there with me, but seeing all the action in this video is nothing less than amazing.
I am the mother of 3 year old healthy TTTS survivors who survived thanks to this surgery. I find myself coming here every now and then and watching this. It looks so beautiful on video–was so scary when I was the one on the table. Thank you again for capturing this. It takes me to a place of deep gratitude for all the medical professionals that made my family possible.
